London City Airport is located in the East of London in the Docklands, just 5 km from central London and close to Canary Wharf, the business district of the City.

With a single runway, has been specially designed for smaller aircraft with short takeoff and landing. It primarily serves the City financial district London and is the smallest London airport. It is expected, however, that the Olympics will influence additional development of this airport.

Because of the small runway, City airport largely flies domestic routes, or routes to Europe. The airlines serving these destinations are British Airways and Air France subsidiary CityJet and KLM.

London City Airport is the most central London airport, with easy access to DLR. As it is smaller than the other London airports, you can save time on travel, but also on check-in times, e.g. if you don’t have any luggage to check-in you can get away with turning up 50 minutes before your flight.
