Cycle paths in London

London has an extensive network of cycle lanes, both through cycle tracks avoiding major roads and via the bus lanes around the capital.
Transport for London (TFL) has a very efficient route finder where you can search for cycle-only routes, where it will find the best route using cycle/bus lanes available in London.
Also, cycle maps of London are available to order free from the TFL website (TFL/tfl/roadusers/cycling/cycleroutes/default.asp). These show not only a specific map of London (Central, North, North-West, etc), but also have marked on them ‘cycle-friendly’ routes avoiding busy roads and dedicated cycle paths.
Paths are clearly visible on the roads themselves and on road-signs, along with any London bus lane for cyclists’ use. Note, however, that a recent change to bus lanes has recently come into effect whereby buses, cycles and motorbikes are now able to use the bus lanes. Please note that motorbikes are also allowed on certain bus lanes in London, so keep an eye on the signs!
