Before embarking on a new adventure in a new place, is important to know your rights and what is expected of you when looking for or starting work
There are many different types of employment contract, whether it is for permanent, part-time, or just an internship. Each contract meets a need, with work flexibility is governed by UK employment regulations.
The regulations guarantee your rights and reduce variation between contract positions.
Permanent contracts need to be more flexible to allow the employer to change its terms when the need arises (see our Permanent contract section).
The definition of a fixed-term contract has been extended to cover contracts that terminate prematurely due to an unexpected event, however fixed term contracts are not treated differently than those in permanent contracts.
