This area is composed of Dalston, Hackney, Haggerston andLondon Fields.
It is here in the heart of Hackney that after it’s bad reputation in the 90’s, this area is fast becoming one of the hottest places in town. With the green space of London Fields, long walks along the Grand Union Canal and bargains at Ridley Road Market, there's plenty to do! More and more art galleries, cultural centers and restaurants are opening in the district, giving the dynamism it was lacking before.
This improvement is largely due to a number of schemes undertaken to regenerate the area, along with a number of new builds being build. The opening of Dalston Junction on the Overground line has improved things dramatically, and by May 2011, Dalston will connected to Highbury & Islington station, improving the connections further.
Transport in this area is mainly by bus, but the Overground line connects Dalston Junction with Haggerston and the centre of the city. (Zone 2)
